Draco's birthday was on the 5th, and I'd decided a few days beforehand that we needed to get out of this recent spate of bizarre English weather - and not a moment too soon, it seems.
It took a lot of last minute planning, and a lot more galleons than I was ever prepared to pay, but I think it's been worth it...
I believe I've finally managed to surprise Draco and take him somewhere that he's never been before - the Amalfi coast in Italy.
I don't think that even Draco could find reason to complain once he got a good look around...although some of the artwork was a bit frightening. And disturbing. There's hardly a square inch of this villa where I don't feel like I'm being watched - either by somewhat portly, half-naked Italians playing instruments, or rabid dogs...
There's a lovely, spacious kitchen with all mod cons - which has come in quite handy seeing as how I told them that no on-site chef would be necessary...
It's been lovely without the kids, even though we do miss them, as we've both been able to catch up on quite a bit of lost sleep...
...and long hot baths without fear of interruption...
I think that Draco and I are starting to get things back on track. I think that we really needed this time away - from everything and everyone. I don't care about what is or isn't going on with Maxwell, or Nott, or anything else.
But we do miss our children, and so tomorrow we'll owl Remus and Sirius and ask them to come. Draco's been in such a relaxed mood that I might even ask him if he wouldn't mind letting Sirius and Remus stay a few nights as thanks for taking care of the kids. It isn't as if there won't be enough room...
The kids have their own bedroom...and plenty of space to run around...
And Remus and Sirius can have their own room...
Eventually we'll have to go back home and get back into the swing of things, but for right now...
...I think we'll stay a while longer.
