Never in my life have I ever met anyone so at peace with their mortality as my mom. I took the news kind of hard when we found out about the cancer. Yesterday, I asked her how she was doing. My mom and I had a similar talk yesterday. *hugs* We are both lucky to have such wonderful, loving, strong moms in our lives. It is so hard to watch them battle illness and pain.

Something else you need to realize as a parent - our biggest fear about dying is leaving our kids when they still need us. A big reason your Mom is able to be at peace is that she sees that she doesn't need to worry about you anymore, that you are going to be OK, that you've got control over your life. Be proud about that, it's a priceless gift you've given her.
