The interview went pretty well. They want me to come back next week to meet the team I would be managing, as well as the managers who would be my immediate peers.

The director said he's going to make a decision on the 14th and let the other two viable candidates and I know.

Let me just say it one more time. Fifty mile round trip. Alpha-fucking-

Yeesh; at least it's a reverse commute. Is MARTA an option?

You know, my commute this past year was 100 miles, daily, round trip. It actually gave me a lot of time to think and listen to music, more than I would have taken out of my day normally for myself. It might end up being a good thing?

Well, except for the gas. I also paid $100+ in gas every month. And had to change my oil once every five weeks.

See, for the last nine years, my commute has been less than 10 miles round trip. For the last few I was working, it was 5 miles. So this is an order of magnitude thing. Ugh.

Good luck. FYI if things don't work out, I know that Echostar is hiring for an Engineering Supervisor. The office is off N. Druid Hills. Go here: http://www.dishnetwork.com/content/aboutus/careers/index.asp and choose Atlanta then Engineering. I can find out what the salary range is if you're interested. -- Heather
