...and the time comes for change

the truth is never about what really happened...it's about how people percieve what they think is the truth. therefore, no matter if you were there....and know what/why you or someone else did, other people will bend and twist the truth however they feel appropriate just to get a desired reaction. everyone is a hypocrite, at some point in time ( Read more... )

i agree that we should not set rules for ourselves on whims, or even after much thought. saying "i'll never.." seems to be something a lot of people do b/c they fear that if they don't make some verbal committment or declaration or whatever, they'll slip really easily, and they usually end up living a lie just to stick to their word. HOWEVER, i think that pretending that we have no agency about what we know we never want to take part in is not something we should have to deny. like, i don't feel that by me saying "i'll never eat meat again" that i'm limiting myself or setting myself up for guilt b/c maybe one day, civilization will fall and i'll HAVE to start hunting and eating meat or some shit. if that does happen, and i have to eat meat, i'm not gonna feel all guilty that i went back on my word because this does NOT mean that my reasons for saying "i'm never going to eat meat" have changed. i will still believe that it's wrong to domesticate animals/feel that we somehow DESERVE to eat them just because. Instead, i think that i ( ... )

that was a worthy post, and i can say that under the current circumstances (and probably even if things improved i can say that i will never eat meat again, or ever do drugs, i feel that those things are kind of a given. i don't feel that i need to prove myself, which is why i don't want to use an "i'll never" statement, because if my views change, or if circumstances change, i won't have "sold out" to myself or in the eyes of others.

its more like the truth doesnt matter, its what people percieve to be truth that matters because they've already got their minds made up.

which is what you basically said in the first sentence, it just sounded weird haha.

well i don't plan to go and do a bunch of stuff that i said i'd NEVER do, but if things change, or my views change i don't want to make myself feel guilty, or be shamed, for something, if that makes sense. i'm saying that this is giving me license to change myself as a person, or do anything differently, i just want to change the WAY i look at things.
