Per Cait Martin’s suggestion I am using the down time that I have at work to write a lengthy LJ post. As yet, I have no idea what it will be about, but this could change within a few pages. Who knows, it might even be interesting, but I make no guarantees. But as a common courtesy, I shall hide it all behind a cut.

I really feel the same way. Every weekend I have the same battle--the laundry MUST be done, the apartment vacuumed, the litter box cleaned and emptied, the dishes washed, the counters 409ed, etc. etc. etc. And instead, I escape to my boyfriend's apartment and play video games all day, and maybe make it out to a movie at night. I can't wait until I make enough money to justify getting a maid once or twice a month.

Haha. That was Lauren's proposed solution to it, too. She's even worse about cleaning than I am. But I feel that having a maid would be forcing me to be more cleanly anyway. I mean, do I REALLY want someone else to come in and see how I live? See the laundry everywhere, the stove that SERIOUSLY needs to be cleaned, a kitchen that hasn't seen a mop since ... well, ever? I'd end up doing a serious clean for the cleaning lady. But who knows. Maybe that would be a good thing. Get me in the habit of minimally cleaning up every once in a while. I can probably afford the cost of one now, especially if it's only a couple times a month, but as long as I'm living in a one bedroom apartment I don't think I'll ever be able to justify getting one. And that's irrespective of how much I make. Maybe, and I stress that this is a maybe, if I win the lottery I'd consider it. Of course, I probably wouldn't be living in a one bedroom apartment at that point.

I see what you mean about cleaning up for the maid, but still... in California having a maid isn't too much of an extravagance, plenty of people have them since there are a lot of women willing to work as maids. I'd have a hard time justifying it if I still lived in VT, though.
