As the gate behind them closed with an resonating creak, its rusty sound seeming eerie in the stillness that had surrounded them she recalled no time seeing this yard without people loitering about - students and teachers alike - for the days she had countlessly entered.

Another post with some really good characterization for Haruka, Josh. I like how the flashbacks you use really add something new to her and I think her anxious feelings when she did her class rep speech were realistic.

I can see some more signs of Haruka breaking down and struggling against weariness and how it's sort of affecting her friendship with Erika in a bad way as well because it hadn't occurred to her that Erika could give good input for an escape plan too.

Really nice post. It kept the action flowing and the story progressing, but still gave some really good insight into Haruka. This is one of those posts that tells you all you need to know about a character.
