Heh, you're welcome anytime! There's a direct PER-CNS twice a week with QF.
This shot is taken just over the threshold of Runway 13. The road in and out of the airport can be seen below. Lots of swamp with crocodiles on the outskirts ;-)
Names? Funnily enough, no - the 320's dont have names (yet). This might be on the agenda longer term, once everything's settled down and the 717's are pensioned off. I think it'd be great if they had names. My fav A320 is VH-VQW, not sure why - it's the one in CNS the most heh ;-)
Dude, I'm there!!! :D We're supposed to get some practical experience in this diploma thingie anyway... now that would rock!! Haha well, that is, if our staff travel extends to CNS... ;)
Hmmm. They need names!! They can't be flying around without names. I bet the pilots have names for them anyway. Of course, most of them are probably not anything you'd want painted on the nose... ;)
Everyone I see VQW I say "I wuv Whiskey". She's nicknamed "Cairns Whiskey" as she was the first bird to have a "scheduled" overnight in CNS (not counting the countless 717's that got stuck o/n in CNS due to going U/S) hehe. Damn DC9's.
VQW could be Vicki. She's a gorgeous looking bird. One of the tech crew always goes "bring X-Ray baaaaack - I love X-Ray" We have two X-Ray's actually, JQX and VQX, both A320s. JQX is leased from SALE, (not sure how long it's here for, was one of the original 3 A320's) while VQX is on a lease-buy arrangement I think.
>I count myself supremely lucky to be working with such beautiful >birds (and to HAVE one overnight - all mine mohahahaha).
Which kind of bird are you having overnight?? No wonder you're such a hit with the girls at Jetstar ;)
Catch you soon Brac - maybe we need to do a roast for tea with some good wine. Let me know when you're next in town aside from this weekend. Next time you're down I'll cook a roast.. should we make it back from the wilds alive this weekend.

Bird strikes - yucky!!! Just wondering, do the JQ birds have names? You know I'm a sucker for that kind of detail, bwahaha... :D
