Alright... let the comments begin...
I refuse to believe that Serenity is a better movie than Back to the Future!
I'll see Serenity eventually, but rather doubt I'll enjoy it as much as BTTF, which I still love to watch over and over after all these years.
Come on, now! Serenity is a fly-by-night fandom; BTTF is a classic that spans audiences and generations!

If we were then how do you explain that the series dvd of "Firefly" has been in the top ten of sales on amazon?

Yeah, the fandom is big and growing, obviously. It's like a religious cult: once you're in, you're compelled to be loyal, and you make every effort to witness to the "lost."

As long as you all don't start gathering in compounds and threatening national security, it's all good. ;-)
Oh wait... no, that's the "Lost" and "24" fans that are going to do that...

No way -- I'm a huge Firefly fan, I love Serenity, but BTTF is on my top ten favorites of all time.

I'd put money on Serenity winning the whole thing, but I doubt there's anyone willing to take that bet.

Yes, after the previous bracket game sparked so much new interest in the community, many of the community watchers and members were from that fandom.

I guess I find it surprising anyone would think this newer film that I would hardly know if it weren't for fan friends has captured many hearts with more depth than Back to the Future, which has held so many hearts for two decades. Maybe I'm just showing my age... and the vast majority of LJ users are much younger. Then again, Casablanca beat ROTK in the Drama Division, so it certainly can't be a generational thing...

It's one of my favorites!

Can't go wrong with Bogey! It's such a well-made film, and the story is a classic.
