OH MY GOD. THIS IS AMAZING. I am so so excited to see you vid this show, here's hoping this won't be the last! Absolutely amazing work here - I love the editing style and the integration of all of the different Dalek stories, which made them feel much more seamless and integrated than they seem in the original canon! I love this A LOT - purplefringe and I just watched together in stunned silence and then made a lot of flaily hand gestures.

WOW thank you SO much!! I felt really guilty being so excited about what comes next on the show at the same time that everyone was so upset over the Ponds leaving (and *just* when I discovered them!) So I wanted to share a little of that excitement. :) The show is so pretty - especially the recent seasons - and so full of great imagery for vidding. I'm kicking myself for not getting into it sooner. So yeah, I definitely hope this won't be the last for me. Happy to finally be on board!

I love the jigsaw puzzle of story threads you put together to make such an epic vid. Of course, the editing is fabulous and I love the way you used the lyrics and music.

Thanks, you. There was... a lot of footage and a lot of threads, so it was a lot to wrangle. Very cool to see you describe the outcome that way.

I. Love. This.

I adore the concept. The Doctor and the Daleks, a perennial theme, but here you're interested in companions, and that just makes it all so much more real for me. More human.

I don't even have words for how awesome the ending is: all the sacrifices the companions have made to battle the Daleks, aligning that with Oswin's sacrifice, and then you slyly address the camera just as she does: "the future is coming on," the future in which she is a companion. It all just comes together so beautifully.

Your visual work is stellar as ever. All the circles in the beginning, all the twirly people in the middle, always going back to the Dalek's eye. We are inside the eye of Oswin, and it's amazing.

Have I mentioned that I'm THRILLED that you are watching and vidding Doctor Who? ::SQUEAL::

That Nine icon just never fails to make me giddy! As do your very kind words.

I'm so happy you like this! From my very limited experience with the show, the companion seems to be the character through which we see the Doctor's world(s), so that really made Oswin's story seem so much more powerful to me. I guess that's why I sort of flipped for the character - that and the way she always seems to be the one in charge, even when she's not.

SO relieved that the ending came through the way you're describing!! Especially this:

"the future is coming on," the future in which she is a companion!!! I love that it's just the beginning. There's so much to look forward to, and that feeling is the one I have as a new Who fan. The companions' stories in general have been stories of sacrifice and heartbreak, but also of triumph. It's thrilling to imagine what's next. It's like there's this whole universe out there, and now I'm ready to discover it with Oswin ( ... )

There was never a chance of me not liking this, Brad. It's you + my fandom. There is no bad here.

Oswin really is amazing. I think you're right about the role of the companion, at least throughout NewWho. Classic is a bit different, but a case could certainly be made for Sarah Jane and many of the others. I do love that Oswin is not from 21st Century Earth. With her being from the far future (and possibly another planet, not necessarily Earth) plus her Dalekdom, she brings the alien back to companions, something we haven't really seen since the classic series -- unless you count Jack.

::momentary pause to turn into goo at the thought of Jack::

There's so much to look forward to, and that feeling is the one I have as a new Who fan. It's the best thing about being new to any fandom, I feel. Though you would seem to have inhaled seven seasons in a gulp ( ... )
