Oh, holy wow -- this is gorgeous. I love what you've done here. The editing at the beginning drew me right in. All of the circles, circles on Daleks, planets -- "the future / in a bag" and all of its resonances (body bag, Daleks and bodies, their bodies, our bodies) -- all the way to the ending, the future coming on, Oswin's future, the show's future. Awesome.

It's amazing to see you describe it that way and see that the images, metaphors, and flow of connections came through so well! I mean, you describe it the way I saw it in my head before I started (which sounded pretty wacky back then). Thank you so much.

Also, icon is crazy appropriate! :)

Oh, this is *great*. The way you tied Oswin into the other companions really grounds her as someone to care about, and tying the companions into the Daleks frames the ultimate reveal of who (what) Oswin really is as such a tragedy. I especially love how you handled Oswin's moment of realisation; this remix of the song really gave you space to let that moment breathe and settle and be horrifying.

Yay, you're vidding DW! *g*

Hey, I'm glad you liked this! Really nice that the attempt to broaden the context came through so well.

this remix of the song really gave you space
I definitely agree. I listened to maybe two dozen remixes before this one, and when I heard that "all in your head section" I was immediately sold. It's wonderful when a song works with your idea in that way and you don't have to fight it.

Yay, you're vidding DW!
I can't wait to do it again!

This was wonderful! I loved how you used the song. You really exploited the tonal shifts to develop the story you were telling. You also used it well in terms of pacing. Pacing in a vid is so hard to do really really well, and this was spot on. The "twist" at the end, with Oswin, and connecting her to the other companions was marvelous -- I really loved how you expanded the narrative beyond her and connected it to the other companions so clearly and coherently. It also gives her a very optimistic ending, without it feeling cheap or forced.

In short: awesome!!!

Thanks, you!! And thank you SO much for the rec. It was really lovely and absolutely made my day to read it, in part because of what you said and in part because it came from you.

I especially appreciate your comments about the tonal shifts/storytelling and pacing. Vidding, to me, is all about connecting the narrative and flow to the music in the way you're describing, so that wonderful to see.

So glad the upbeat ending worked! Her story in the ep was quite tragic, but it felt more like a promise of things to come (to me, anyway).

Hehe, the rec was deserved. It's hard to find anything which has such great pacing and a strong narrative -- everything is so transparent really -- and your joy over Oswin reallly shines through in how optimistic you are for her.

I thought the ending did hint at good things to come too -- and I am super excited to see how they bring her into the series properly, or how she fits! :D This vid just got me all excited about that all over again. Especially after the goodbye Ponds stuff. :'( (AMY. RORY. WOOBIE. MY HEART.)

I am indeed hooked! Can't wait for the show to start up again. I've got another vid in the very early stages right now, actually! Though I may do Festivids first.

I'm so glad you liked this one. :)

This is my first time trying Festivids. It's exciting!

The next Doctor Who vid I'm planning would be a character/relationship study across all of the new Who.

My first doctor was Nine, actually, but the show didn't hook me back then. To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of Eleven - it was Oswin who hooked me. Eleven was just kind of ... there. Going back and watching some of Ten, I think he's my favorite of the three (based on what I've seen so far).
