Hee - I have to tell you this: When geezola saw the first draft, her first comment was "You did that thing from The 6 Between Us" and pointed out the overlay at 1:16. I was like... huh. I guess I had been watching a lot of The 6 before doing this vid. :P Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed this!
Oh awesome that was really fun. And seriously angsty if I'm reading it right. I have actually never seen this movie. Maybe I'll have to give it a go soon.
And seriously angsty if I'm reading it right It sounds like you're reading it right. :) I'm really glad you enjoyed watching it - and even more happy that it seems to have come across the right way even though you haven't seen the movie.
That was fantastic! Great song choice, love Black Lab. Fantastic editing, as always. Had me hooked from the beginning, and also especially love the editing for the whole 2nd verse. I think they're making another Riddick movie - so yay! Great video, perfect editing of clips to match the mood of the song. Loved this!
also especially love the editing for the whole 2nd verse That's awesome to read because I really fought with the second verse. Got stuck on it for about two weeks trying to figure out the proper pacing/motion/narrative. It's really cool that you think my editing usually works, because I'm often tearing my hair out over segments like this.
I had never heard of Black Lab until jarrow sent me the song, but I am totally hooked. It's great that they're making another Riddick movie! Now I just need to see Chronicles...
Vid wise, this shit rocks my world. Honestly. If you must know I actually downloaded the vid & went straight to the big ass telly with it without even previewing. Because in Brad, we trust. And I was highly rewarded for the aforementioned trust.
Hadn't heard the song but as per usual you completely knock it out of the park with your cuts, flow & storytelling. Sens-friggin-sational! This is a prime example of why effects are often so completely unessecary when you can make a vid this good.
And OMFG you hadn't seen Pitch Black?!? To save our friendship you must now & IMMEDIATELY seek out The Chronicles of Riddick. To completely attone, you must also make a vid out of it. ;)
Also Vin Diesel has recently gone from someone who I enjoy watching on the screen to demi-god status (and Im sure he would get a kick out of the reference) because of the following interview:
Oh man I'm really glad you enjoyed this. It seriously means a lot. That's awesome that you watched it for the first time on the BA telly! Wish I could have been there! With popcorn.
Normally I'd probably use more effects with a vid of this type - even as resistant as I am to effects - but the way the movie is shot is so dynamic, with all of the heavily affected lighting and dramatic motion and source effects, that it didn't really feel like it needed any more help from me.
I will indeed seek out Chronicles of Riddick. I've been meaning to watch it since I saw Pitch Black, just haven't gotten around to it. I get the sense from the trailers and bits that I've seen that it's a completely different type of movie.
I definitely knew Vin Diesel was a gigantic geek (physically and otherwise). He has his own gaming company! Have you ever played Escape from Butcher Bay? It's one of the best games I've ever played, and he was heavily involved in the development - and his company published it.
Chronicles is indeed an epic when compared to Pitch Blacks indie sci-fi fare. But its still Riddick through & through, and CoR features one of the best mullets in cinematic history as sported by Karl Urban.
Ive played both demos of Butcher Bay & Dark Athena (recently), and I really should go back and play them in their fullness. But I'm having trouble just keeping up playing the games I really really want to play!
Whoa, way cool! I was so excited to see what you could do with shiny movie source and you definitely didn't disappoint. :D It's fun, isn't it? You should vid it more often

I'm so glad you weren't disappointed! Your style and the process of doing your vidder profile was definitely the biggest inspiration for this. Still, I had absolutely no idea what you'd think.
It is indeed fun to use dynamic source. Wish I got inspired by it more often. I guess step No. 1 would be to watch more movies.
There definitely seemed to be more depth to the vid than I expected given the source That's reassuring to read because that's *exactly* how the movie came across to me. I was expecting a fun little sci fi horror movie, but it had much more depth (as well as much more pretty) than I expected. I actually feel like I could do multiple character/relationship studies to it... and it's rare for me to feel that way about any movie, especially one in this genre
