A Parade, and an Unbridgeable Chasm

This past weekend was not only Memorial Day, but Ski-to-Sea, a multi-leg race from Mt. Baker to the harbor at Fairhaven in Bellingham, Washington. The annual parade was Saturday afternoon.

True about my native South. There's a lot to that, I suppose. But it isn't the pronunciation per se that is the difference so much as a correlation between the pronunciation and the difference. I could drop my g's tomorrow and it would not be a predictor of anything, nor would be the reverse (should those two guests start pronouncing the entire word). But left to speak as we naturally do, I think some correlation remains.

By the way, after you left, they started in on nonsense about "aisle three" in Haggen's. It wasn't funny, just like people saying "skeet skeet skeet" for an entire weekend also wasn't funny. Then one of them picked up a patio chair and tried to smash it on the stone. It was completely uncalled for and disrespectful.
