The Office - "The Chairmodel"

You could say (and people will) that the very idea the show is even introducing the Jim and Pam engagement angle, less than a year after last year's season finale, is jumping the shark.

And for any other show, written by any other group of writers, to attempt to pull off such a risky move would be considered too "Ross and Rachel".

But this isn't any other show.

Since the very first episode, we've been privy to the connection between these two characters; we've watched Jim pine over Pam for almost four seasons.  We've seen him wear his emotions toward her on his sleeve, while she was off with Roy.  So the very idea that Jim bought a ring a week after they started dating is hardly preposterous.  It just makes sense, and totally fits the story that has been created for these two.

I know that I continue to risk my manhood by writing about this show in such a way, but I really don't care.  In my opinion, it's the perfect blend of comedy and emotion.

I can't wait for the proposal, because you know it's going to blow us away.

p.s.  My favorite quote:  "If she was in an average-sized rowboat, would it capsize?"
