I probably would have given her food, but that wouldn't necessarily be a wise choice, either. It's kind of like if you leave food out for a stray cat, after that one time they come back every day wanting more. I don't know, I wish I knew what the solution was.
I've had similar expieriences with 'needy' people. I too, have been guilty of acting on impulse reactions. I think it's good of you that you actually considered the situation afterward, it shows a real sense of thought and compassion. You're right...if more people on the planet treated others with decency and kindness the world WOULD be a better place. If people actually focused somewhere other than themselves, and treated others as fellow human beings, the things that could be accomplished! Don't be depressed over the state of the world though. The point is that you ARE one of those people who obviously care, and that means something.
I thought that the "jesus" myth you mentioned was something else... isn't it from a fairy tale? isn't it a beautiful princess in disguise... like beauty and the beast!
I was downtown one night an I stopped by the cumberland street little cricket to get a grap nehi and I ended up talking to a hobo for like 45 minutes. I gave him 3 bucks, he said he wanted some chinese food.
