So, I just received something from our mortgage co., a disclosure statement from paying off our loan when we sold the condo.  Of course the thing that caught my eye was the "ESC REFUND" of $785.  Now, believe me- I would certainly know if I got that refund, and we did not ( Read more... )

Be firm with them! I'd say start with the original post office, where you used to live and where you submitted your change-of-address form. If no luck there, try the post office where you are now. And if no one knows anything, call the mortgage people back and DEMAND that they stop payment on the first check and overnight you a replacement. That's a nice chunk of change and you deserve it!!!

oh, you can bet I'll be back on the phone with them! I just really don't want to drive to my old PO, so I'm hoping maybe I have some sort of luck at my current one, I can dream right? Or at least them telling me that it is out of there hands and I'll start pestering the mort. co. again.

They mail it to the address that the mortgage was for. Quite asenine isn't it. Our check arrived over a month after we closed. I think I remember telling you it was a surprise to us. Are you gonig to Little Gym tomorrow? My parents are back up so my mom will probably come again. Camden was happy to have a afmiliar face in the spectator window since he spends 1/2 the class waving to it.

I do remember you telling me you got one, that's why I was sort of anticipating one myself. This one was ISSUED a month ago though, hence my concern.

Yes, we will be there tomorrow.. hopefully they don't close the door on us and not let us come in. I called last week, but I won't be calling again this time, I'm just showing up! ;p Glad your Mom is coming!

Gah. How annoying. I'd just call the old post office - and if they say they don't have it (or if they won't tell you over the phone), I'd call the mortgage co. again, tell them to stop the payment on the first check (hey it was issued a month ago and hasn't been cashed yet, so obviously it's lost somewhere), and issue a new check, to your current address. Why can't they stop payment until you run around trying to find the check? I assume you forwarded your mail, so your old post office should have sent it on - or alternatively, they may just send it back, why would it just be sitting there?
