Books?

Okay.. since we are all duly scarred from Little Earthquakes, let's move on! I have my library card rearin' to go. Anyone have any other recommendations? I tend to read a lot *like* the In Her Shoes, Good In Bed, type stuff. I read through almost all of Oprah's Book Club books back in the day... so that's the type of book I can usually sit down ( Read more... )

You sound like a perfect book club buddy to me! I can never get through the books that are good for "discussion." I'm more of a mindless fluff reader.

I love the library. The online feature is amazing. I simply type in the books I want and they gather them from other libraries and email me when they are ready! What I usually do is go to amazon.com and type in the title of a book I've really enjoyed. Amazon then gives me the list of "readers who liked this book also liked..." and then I pick from there.

If you haven't read the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella I HIGHLY recommend them (well the 1st 2 anyway). I also like Mirian Keyes, and Jane Green.

Ha Jodi.. we def. are on the same wavelength. I've read all the Shopaholic, most all of the Mirian Keyes and I know I just read a Jane Green.. what was the name? Something... Book?? Bookends?

Good idea about Amazon.. since I have become so, ahem, "cheap", I haven't really been over there.. but I should go check what they recommend for me.

Has anyone read Eat Cake : A Novel (Hardcover)by Jeanne Ray?
Apparently I put that on my wish list on Amazon about a year and a half ago.. :-)

I'm hooked on the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants books right now. I have all three. The movie was so good I couldn't help myself!

I loved Bookends. Actually, I've loved all of Jane Green's books. I liked the first couple of Shopaholic books, but the last one just annoyed me. Her other one, Can You Keep A Secret?, was good. Do you like mysteries and thrillers, too? There are a few authors of those that I like.

I just requested The J.A.P. Chronicles by Isabel Rose from our library. Another on my want-to-read list is The Twins of Tribeca by Rachel Pine. Every so often I go to B&N and browse the new book section and then write down the titles of the ones I want to read. Then I request them from my library instead! I also love the online feature. So easy. We get all our movies from the library now, too. We haven't paid to rent a movie in a couple of years now.
