Dinah walked along the path, silver sandals winking on the rich soil. Giant blood-red hibiscus and yellow sunflowers mixed with other brilliantly-colored flowers that bloomed among emerald-greenery.

Dinah took a deep breath of the scented air. How she loved it here in Paradise!

A short white chiton with silver clasps and belt hugged the curves of her body, silver Amazon bracelets around her wrists. She smiled as she heard footsteps coming down the path.

“Princess.”

Diana in all her Amazon glory appeared, clad like Dinah in gold instead of silver, her beauty stunning.

Dinah drew in a breath. Diana never failed to take it away.

Diana held out a hand and Dinah heard the waterfall nearby. She smiled and took it.

The swim in the pond had been refreshing, and lying among the wildly-colored flowers even better. Dinah still marveled at the casual nudity on the Island, but she wasn’t complaining. The women here were living goddesses when it came to beauty.

But none matched Diana, who was truly gifted by Aphrodite. Dinah felt very lucky indeed as she walked hand-in-hand with her lover back to the Palace. She sported a bright red hibiscus flower in her hair, courtesy of Diana.

In the cool interior, they headed for Diana’s chambers, dressing in fresh chitons. The filmy gauze around the bed fluttered gently in the light breeze blowing in through the windows. Golden bowls of fresh fruit were set out, and a golden carafe of lemon-scented water invited Dinah to take a long drink. She set the hibiscus flower in a vase.

“Mmm, how can you leave this Paradise, Diana?”

Diana smiled. “It wasn’t easy, but Patriarch’s World offers many things.”

“Not as good as this.” Dinah bit into a yellow apple.

“Ah, but I have met so many interesting people there.”

Dinah grinned. “Yes, but here you’re treated like a Princess, as you should be.”

Diana laughed. “Home is good to me.”

As if on cue, the door opened and a smiling Amazon arrived with a tray of food. “Lunch, Princess.”

“Thank you, Ariane.”

The Amazon was about to set the tray down on the table when Diana said, “Please take it out on the balcony.”

Ariane nodded and went outside.

“We can watch the sunset.”

Dinah nodded, pleased at the idea.

The sunset was as glorious as Diana had promised. The red ball sunk below the horizon, streaks of rose-pink, lemon-yellow, and tangerine-orange lighting up the indigo sky. Stars began to twinkle as a soft breeze blew through the trees, caressing the two of them on the balcony.

Dinah sighed contentedly, drinking mango juice to top off the meal.

“You are happy, Dinah.”

“Oh, yes.”

Diana smiled. “I am glad.”

“It’s just really beautiful here, Diana.”

“As are you.”

Dinah laughed. “Flatterer.”

“I speak the truth.”

Dinah ate a slice of pineapple. “Oh, yeah, I forgot that part of your job description is Goddess of Truth.”

Diana chuckled. “So it is.” Her blue eyes sparkled. “You are a Bird of Paradise, my friend.” Diana picked out a peacock feather from the vase on the table. She removed one of her chiton clasps and let the silky material slide down her shoulder. She leaned forward and placed the peacock feather in Dinah’s hair, the iridescent blue-and-green color shimmering in the mellow light, gold striations winking in the final rays of the sun.

Dinah laughed and moved her head, delighted at the gentle wave of the brilliant feather.

“But, truly, Diana, you have a lovely home here.”

“It always rejuvenates me.” Diana’s expressions grew sultry over the rim of her glass. “As do you.”

Heat flushed through Dinah’s body. She slowly finished her second pineapple slice while letting her eyes linger on the partially-exposed breast of Diana, the chiton half-off, and the Amazon Princess stood up and extended her hand. Dinah took it and followed Diana back inside, the sun completely disappearing below the horizon.
