Vintage Ads, Marilyn, & Paranoia

I've been perusing some comms while I set up my new journal and found (via a friend's journal), vintage_ads. Fun to comment on, and a great window into culture of the past. Ads in our industrialized societies tell a lot about those societies, and this looks like an interesting place to get some insights and have fun ( Read more... )

I wouldn't overlook the influence of Frederic Wertham's Seduction of the Innocent and resulting Comics Code. Both happened in 1954. And of course WW was impacted by Marston's death in 1947.

vintage_ads looks like great fun. I'm rather fond of bygonefashion myself.

Oh, absolutely! That little book of Dr. Wertham's shaped the entire Silver Age. Great impact on Wonder Woman! Well, not 'great', but you know what I mean! ;)

vintage_ads looks like great fun. I'm rather fond of bygonefashion myself.
