Enough to gag a maggot

Feb 13, 2005 00:55

Long time, no see livejournal. I've neglected you quite a bit. In fact, it's been nearly a month. But to be honest, not too much is different. Is there really a point to repeatedly posting what is essentially the same update over and over again. Of course not. I'll give a quick rundown of the things that have happened

  • When I asked my mom what she wanted for her birthday (feb. 6), she handed me this flyer from JBR and said she wanted a particular necklace. It was only on sale for a few days, and I got it for 40 bucks instead of paying the usual $100. w00t!
  • I'm gonna go to a flea market to get a cheap katana
  • I'm gonna have to get a new bokken. Mine has splinters in it from heavy contact :D. Right now, I've got it duck taped. I've got a broken bokken.
  • We had to send of a sample for rabies testing at work. You know what that means - DOGGIE DECAPITATION! This one was particularly gruesome, as Dr. Fink decided to sever the spine, not by sawing as he normally does, but by twisting the head, and snapping the neck. Yuck.
  • Dr. Fink had a cat suddenly die after a neuter. I put kitty back in the cage, and the sucker up and turned blue on me. He did CPR on it, but couldn't save it.
  • My dog is in kidney failure, probably because of her (previously) nasty teeth. Dr. Fink pulled several of her teeth (she has no opposable molars) and then it took me nearly and hour to clean the remaining ones.
  • Crystal was fired and Amanda re-hired. It's kind of a shame. Crystal had grown on me and I was starting to like working with her. She had poor attendance though. Still, I'm sorry to see her go.
  • We have this relief vet named Dr. Farris. He's an interesting fellow. Just before we were getting ready to close, a client asked him if we could x-ray their animal his response: "Hell no! Do you see what time it is? We're gettin' ready to close!" Man oh man, he doesn't hold anything back. Some of his jokes are pretty corny; in fact some of his jokes are the same as mine. How could I not like this guy? Favorite expression: "It's nasty enough to gag a maggot".
  • I borrowed a box set of books that had the LotR trilogy and The Hobbit from one of the receptionists at work. I read half of the Hobbit in one day. I really enjoyed it. It kind of reminded me of the Chinese tale, Journey to the West. I'm trying to space out my reading and not read everything within a week. I read like I eat - voraciously.
  • Starting February 25 is my karate winter camp. I get to to that whole 4 mile run in the sand again! Hooray! This'll be my 3rd Winter Camp. I'm staying in the hotel, so I'd like to have something to do when I have some free time during meal breaks and before I go to sleep, hence not trying to read all those books at once.

    Super weak? Whatever!

I'm supposed to get my letter from the shipyard in the mail relatively soon. I was thinking about it, and I'm not sure that's what I want to do. What's that you say? You're not surprised? Yeah, me neither. But there it is. If I don't take the job, I'm back where I started and I'll need to find a direction.

On the other hand, they pay well. It'll give me the money to be on my own, as well as a set schedule for the next five years. Karate just about every night if I want to, plus sparring and iaido classes on Saturday. No boarders or Sunday bullshit. At least until I finish the program.

I'm actually kind of hoping that they reject me. That way it's out of my hands and I don't have to worry about making the decision to accept or decline. I know, it's weak. What can I say? I doubt they'll reject me though. Maybe they'll offer me a position I didn't want...

    PS

Best wishes to Matt and Christina. I hope everything works out for the best.
