Oh, I'm crying. That was lovely. The use of Firefly-type syntax was brilliant. And this line --

"Didn't matter how many non-sentient ships the Browncoats could scrape up, a pilot with a control yoke in his hands couldn't never keep up with a ship as could fly herself."

I saw when inlovewithnight recced this a couple of weeks ago, and I filed it away to read, because I didn't have time right then. Well, I'm so glad that I came back and read it, because it was beautiful. Lovely fusion of concepts, great Fireflyverse voice, spot-on Zoe. Losing Wash breaks my heart in a whole 'nother way here. I'm enjoying visualizing what a Zoe/River partnership would be like, though.
