1) To deny our own impulses are to deny we are human. --If you define being human as having impulses, then yes, to deny our impulses is to deny that we are human. It depends on how you argue it.
2) Whats the point of living if you never take a risk. --Very good point, too many people "live" in their comfort zone, and never do anything worthwhile. Yet you must remember to also live in a moderated risk-taking... to be able to survive to the next day, that is the first priority!
3) Happiness is a risk we all must take. --Why would happiness be a risk? :) Of course, it is often the result of a risk we take that turns out okay.
4) The sweet will never be as sweet without the sour. --Completely true in food! In life too, as a metaphor, this is true. If we never understand how bad life can be, how will we ever truly appreciate how great it can be?
Remember, "Life is the sweetest fruit that never ripens." I don't remember who said that, but it is too true.
