It looks like the tattoo is going to become a reality.  I finally got a chance to talk to the artist last night, and went over the design idea I had for him.  He's got the sketches done, and I'm scheduled to sit in the chair on Jan. 5th to get the initial black and shading done ( Read more... )

To answer simply, yes.

And what you decide to tip is entirely up to you, but it's generally in the 10-20 range from what I've seen/done, if not more.

I think Sigrid tipped $40 last time, but it really does depend on the length of the session.

I've tipped from $20 - $50 depending on how long I sat for, and how many times I've had to sit for. If you sit 3x for 2h/each it's unreasonable IMO to tip more than $20-30/session. Cause that's one hell of a tip overall. But if you get an entire piece done in like a 3hr sitting, I think it's reasonable to tip $40.
It also depends on how much the ink costs. A $65 piece does not warrant a $40 tip (unless you are being hooked up). I always feel cheap when they say "ok that'll be $200 and I tip $20 because it's only 10%, but the people that do my work work for themselves and make one HELL of lot of money.
