A music piece designed to run for 1000 years in a former lighthouse overlooking a powerful, tidal but essentially silty river that runs through an ancient capital city, just close to its financial heart but just at the point where that financial heart may be about to falter, played on the resonant metal bowls of an alien culture, sounds so exactly like something out of an Iain M. Banks novel that I should go and see it forthwith.

And I remember my graduation day as a weirdly stressful one but because it was the day that my adoptive family met my birth family, and the day that Jon met both of those families, rather than anything to do with the graduation which was entirely humdrum. So, yes. Aaargh, families, even when it's not actually a problem.

Hallo - catching up shamefully now. Did you ever go see Longplayer? You can hear it here though of course it's not quite the same.

That sounds like a big day, alright. It looks like Jen's graduation (on Wednesday) will be the second/third time I meet her dad/mum - she only got two tickets so her dad will sit it out - I was on for insisting that he goes as he's been helpful over a longer time span than myself, but she said it's fine, they've seen it twice already.

I haven't, but about three seconds' Googling tells me I should!
