One of my coworkers just got a blue Protege5 last weekend, but I haven't seen it yet. I shall have to investigate it. But I love my golf. It's amusing that other companies are copying stuff off it even down to the dash lights.

Yeah too bad VW seems to build cars for midgets or something....everyone I sat in except the humongous Passat I banged my knees on the steering coulmn when hitting the breaks and I am not even 5' 9"

Did you adjust the seat at all? I know lots of tall people who ride them. warphammer is 6'2" or something like that and doesn't fit too well but he can still drive the car.

The seats are height adjustable as well as back and forth and seatback tilt and the steering wheel telescopes as well as tilts (a fact which a lot of people aren't aware of.)

Its a great car. Really zips around town. It has a lot of storage space in the trunk since it is a sport wagon. We got ours all decked out with every option incl. leather, so its the first 'luxury' type of car I ever had. My previous car was a 94 Jeep Wrangler, and that has no 'extras' even if you buy the top of the line.

Woo! Another Protege5 owner (well, I'm a leaser)! I love mine (a silver one). It's my first foreign car, and I'm hooked.

I love how I can just tap the gas pedal and blast forward to get around slowpokes and 18-wheelers. And it runs and turns so smoothly. And the cargo capacity is rather nice (and the reason I was looking at this kind of car)--I have been able to get eight or nine bags of garden mulch in the back of mine and still have plenty of room left over.

Mine is a 2003, and I leased it last November. And "zippy" (how you described yours up above) is the perfect term for it. This car definitely has a personality--it loves the interstate, where it can zoom-zoom, like in the commercials. It can get impatient in stop-and-go traffic. I like mine so much that my dad is thinking of getting one now. :)

My mom liked my car that she wanted my dad to get one (he just got a new car). He didn't end up getting it, but she sure pushed for it, and he definitely considered it. He got an SUV b/c of the snow in NJ.
