Yes, many may find this a bit sleep inducing, but I happen to like it. This is the new Smokey Robinson single, his take on Norah Jones' Don't Know Why.
What a coincidence! I heard "I'll Try Something New" on a friend's car stereo today! Smokey has been so good for so long that it's amazing.
Thank you so much for posting this track; I really enjoyed it. His delicacy of phrasing conveys more emotion than any diva's vocal pyrotechnics.
My sister called me to turn on the TV and catch Lawrence Beaman on "America's Got Talent." Did you get to see his performance of "You Are So Beautiful"? His voice is so smooth and rich. I hope that he gets a record contract and some good material.
I haven't heard "I'll Try Something New" in a long time. Smokey is one of those artists that has this huge repertoire of amazing music but all the radio wants to play is Tears of a Clown, Tracks of My Tears, Shop Around and, occasionally, Ooh Baby Baby. Where are all the rest? The narrow minded programmers have forgotten about them. Personally, I love songs like Baby Baby Don't Cry (probably my favorite), More Love and Special Occasion.
I had "Baby Baby Don't Cry" on cassette. I wore the tape out!
There are other artists with large catalogs that you never hear. Marvin Gaye recorded a lot of gems, but all I ever hear on the radio is "I Heard It Through the Grapevine." Same thing with James Brown; all I ever hear is "I Feel Good." I could go on and on.
