Why Steve needs to keep his mouth shut about the money, or WTF, fandom?

I see a lot of people getting on Steve McGarrett's case about not coming forward with his involvement in stealing the money in support of Kono. I'm a little curious why Steve seems to be the focus of fandom's ire rather than Danny (co-conspirator) or Chin (accessory after the fact), but that's really beside the point. You see, while I agree that ( Read more... )

Why Steve needs to keep his mouth shut about the money, or WTF, fandom? anonymous October 5 2011, 11:08:49 UTC
There has been a lot of talk amoungst the #H50 fandom about Steve not supporting Kono with IA but I do believe there is a reason for that,I think Kono may have gone undercover.

I have no doubt that Kono is undercover. The jury is out on whether Steve knows about it or not. I'm betting he doesn't. But really what could he do? I'm sure IA took a statement from him, and I'm sure he said Kono didn't take the money. But the governor had already told him that he was going to let it play out without interference. So other than implicating himself and thereby adding to the evidence against all of them, what could he have done to help her with IA? Again, I say there's a lot he and Danny could both be doing to support her on a personal level that they're not doing and I think that sucks. But all I'm seeing is people saying "Steve needs to step up and confess" and that's just a stupid idea given their current circumstances.

I blame it all on the writing, which has really gone downhill. There are ways to handle the IA storyline which don't make the others looks like bad friends. I agree they didn't have to stand up and admit to a crime, but instead they've done nothing at all. WTF?! *head desk*

I hope it's not even a deal, I hope Fryer went to her and asked for help, "Look Kono, I know the charges will never stick, but I'm asking you to help me with something, tho it means you taking the fall ... for now." But I don't think the writing is that nuanced anymore.

I'm thinking he probably told her he didn't have enough to get her dismissed, but that he could destroy her reputation. But if she helped him, he'd make a big public announcement when it was all over how she was innocent all along.
