Artificial Intelligence Philosophy

I used to be much more of a booster of Artificial Intelligence than I am now. Growing up, I was into Godel, Escher, Bach, Hofstadter's and Dennett's "The Mind's I", and other similar books. AI can perform the physical functions of a human being without the ability to rationalize, say, think about the ethics of the actions.

Ever seen the animatioin "AI" produced by Tom Hanks (I believe he produced it). Sad.

The Japanese are way ahead of the rest of the world, i.e., the Americans, in the production of robots but I don't know if they would count as AI.

Some good points in here. I read "Emperor's New Mind" a while back. It was pretty interesting
