One prisoner, Dhia al-Shweiri, told the Associated Press that he was ordered by American soldiers to strip naked, bend over and place his hands on a wall. While al-Shweiri said he was not sodomized, he was humiliated by the act

So why are you saying you lose sympathy for the abused Iraqis? How are you interpreting the quote you posted from this specific prisoner? I get interested when people make such a bold statement but don't include something to explain or justify why they are saying it

You know my stance on this war. Since you know my stance on this war, i imagine you also know that i am disgusted with our military and the way they are treating iraqi prisoners.
his comment about being treated as a woman is the worst insult pisses me off. reading that shit makes me mad. and perhaps that is why it was quoted, it makes for a very offensive quote to most of us in the U.S. i understand that is their religion speaking, but fuck that. Fuck their religion. I cant stand people that seem to think that they are in any way above females. That burns me up. You being a woman, i would imagine this would also burn you up.
as far as myself possibly not being very sensitive to their religion, please... Christianity still thinks men are above women, just they are much more cryptic in their message.
i hope you were not reading way to much into my post. It seems to me though that you were.
after reading your post a second time, i am convinced that you have misunderstood my post. Though, i did choose some misleading wording.
i do however want to respond further to some of your comments:
while i admit that it might be a bit insensitive for me to say that i have 'lost a little bit of sympathy' i am very shocked the claim that being forced to wear women's underwear is the worst thing that has happened. This seems pretty fucked up to me. This quote reminds me of how women are treated in their society, and their treatment of women is not excusable to me.
i have a hard time believing that anyone would think that i meant that the iraqi prisoner's are now deserving of abuse or that the abuse should continue because of their opinions toward women, and for anyone to do that are doing nothing but intentionally twisting my words
