I'm moved to say "you only get one go at life, so you ought to make sure you don't spend it lamenting it's misfortune... " etc. but it sounds like you know that already and that you are getting your head around fixing things.
Change is scary but... it the stuff of sweet sweet victory in the "big game" (aka: life).
May there be changes that feed your dreams in the not-so-distant-future for you sugar-bronze. :)
