And here comes the seat belts on school buses debate.

Yeah, it's already been brought up a few times on various radio stations (CBC & 680)

Though there's a pretty damn good track record of having no seatbelts
Plus, if theres a fire on a bus, kids will surely burn to death as people fumble with their seatbelts (which become too hot to touch)

This is so sad. I hope that the bus driver doesnt drive any longer. HE hit the lumber truck and should be held responsable for hitting another car and for the injuries.

Poor kids, i hope their okay =/

Two of your facts are incorrect.

First, the police have said many times already its too soon to lay blame on either party. Wether the truck driver was at fault or the bus driver was at fauly NEITHER deserve to lose their licenses over this. Accidents happen.

Also, your driver was not a "he". Twas a she.

They interviewed the truck driver on the news(the one who drove the lumber truck) - and he said HE was hit from behind (and as you know, if your hit from behind - its not your fault, its the person who hit you, because you cant be accountable for something you had no control over). and the bus driver should loose HER license if she cant control her bus. Bus drivers jobs are to drive and maintain the safety of its passengers. And she failed to do both.
Accidents happen- agreed. But their shouldnt be room for accidents when it comes to the welfare of our children.

And the news said the driver was a he, thats where i got the 'he' from.

The bus driver was indeed a female, however the news incorrectly stated she was a male during the first few broadcasts
I also saw a computer generated reconstruction of the accident on the news (I was flicking between several channels so I'm not certain which channel it was on, I think CTV though), and it seems as though the bus may have been hit by a gust of high winds while beginning to pass the transport truck
That said, it still means the driver of the bus didn't use due caution

I am basing this off what may be a word-of-mouth type reconstruction of the accident, rather than what really happened; the official report isn't in yet (as far as I know)
