Even if it is the motherboard, your files aren't FUBAR as long as an idiot doesnt work on it. Files are on the HD, not the motherboard. If only the motherboard's toast, it's fairly easy to get the files back.

Well, an idiot must've touched it then. Some engineering friends of mine said they would take a look at it for me, so we'll see how that goes.
