I'm not religious but was raised in a Christian tradition. Here's the thing that I don't get. I don't know if it was said by Jesus or taught by one of his disciples, but it's about leading by example. Being a light, etc. Forgive the sinner, don't forgive the sin. I would think that the proper biblical path would be to set a good example to steer people towards what they think is the correct path.

There was a recent Fresh Air that covered the In God We Trust addition to coinage and the pledge, it talks about LBJ's pastor advocating cherry-picking verse from the bible to force home their point.

Myself, I think the In God We Trust is one of the things that's really causing the Christians vs All Others in this country, and it royally sucks.
