I love other languages translated into english; also someone of another language trying to express themselves in english. Like in "everything is illuminated" there's some serious charm, and something amazingly touching about it. see here ( Read more... )

I completely agree. I used to love it when Pedro, the kitchen manager at Cafe Septieme, would give me the weekend specials to translate from his English to real English. It always made me smile.

If only that could be a vocation. "Brandy Coons, freelance translator: your english to good english."

"miss brandy, I have been told your english is not the very good english. we do not need you."

European real estate websites are great, too. I've actually thought of e-mailing them my suggestions, but that would bring me close to being that person who writes letters to the editor. And that, I vowed I would never do.

And then, where would the charm make himself a home?

ps-I'm going to be in seattle sometime in march or april! I don't know for sure, when...my brother and I are trying to arrange a joint visit, and the news is still sketchy. we should have brunch, and I will keep you posted.
