LOOK! I AM STILL NOT DEAD!
i haven't had internet in months. no lie, it hurts my soul and i miss fandom like burning.
However, it's thanksgiving. so let me get to the point of this post.
THINGS WHAT BRANDI IS THANKFUL FOR.
(a numerical list, in no particular order)
1) Fandom in general. For giving me a (arguably) (mostly) healthy outlet for my obsessions and kinks and general flailing and brain overflow.
2) The friends i have made through fandom who have supported me, held me up when i couldn't do it myself, literally, figuratively, and financially, I owe so many of you so much for your love and support and help and i just, I wish i could repay every one of you in some way. i've got some ideas for a start, but the things you've given me, metaphorically and literally, are priceless.
3) All the shenanigans and bands and crazy that make up this fandom. Seriously guys. our fandom is the most ridiculous fandom, and i love it.
4) Chicago. It's been a constant struggle to survive here, a thousand miles from friends and family, but I'm still here, i'm working, i'm going to school, i'm scraping by, with generous help from friends and family when i really really need it, though i'm trying to be at a point where i DON'T need it at all. Regardless, i love this city like i had been born here. I'm a Texan, and will always be, Texas will always be home, but Chicago has become the home of my heart, and all the craziness and people that go along with the city has a place there, too. (except possibly the bustracker, which is quite frequently the bane of my existence and my savior in the same breath. OH CTA. HOW I LOVE TO LOATHE YOU)
5) FAMILY. I haven't seen my blood family in over two years (thursday last week was my 3 year anniversary in chicago!), and i miss them something fierce. this tim of year is reallyhard because i'm so close to them, but family also includes a lot of you, actually. (Cindy, Stephanie, Rachel, Beckah, just to name a couple) And you guys make it easier for me to be so far from my kin.
6)Twitter LOLOL. silly, i know. this has been my ONE connection to the internet for MONTHS. OVER A YEAR ALMOST. So, yeah, i'm thankful for it. without it i wouldn't still have my connection to you guys.
7) My cats. the little devils. without them i'd be a lot less sane.
8) My Beth and Alyssa, who won't read this, since they don't use LJ, but they hold me together when the internet can't.
9) starbucks for their free internet. Specifically the Sbux on clark and belmont. because it has a beckah for me to harass in the middle of the night when i really need to be sleeping but don't want to.
10) SCHOOL! It can be really vexing, and frustrating, and there are a LOT of stupid rules that frequently remind me of high school (seriously, i am TWENTY SEVEN. do not punish me because my classmates were talking during a lesson), but over all it's been a wealth of opportunities i wouldn't have had otherwise. (look for a post next week or so in relation to that, actually) Part of which is Getting my makeup artist certification in december! WOO.
THERE ARE OTHER THINGS. AND PEOPLE. but i'm due at home to pack and wait for my dinner, which my sister ordered for me and i have not even stolen internet there :( HOWEVER! COMMENT AND I WILL TELL YOU WHY I AM THANKFUL FOR YOU! (all comments will be screened as well. I may not get to replies until tomorrow, or the next day, but rest assured, i WILL.)
