It's time to make a very important decision.

For my own personal torture, review, and a proverbial smack in the face... I would like to review that which I have accomplished this past year:

Maybe self-loathing is where it's at. I do it all the time myself. From where I'm sitting, it seems defensible, considering how pathetic I am. But I often think that, even if I had everything that I'd like to have, I'd still feel that way.

I wonder if it's true, what Kierkegaard says: It's not really self-loathing. That's just the surface of it. Really, it's our awareness of being engulfed. We're not the biggest thing out there; the world is much bigger, and God is bigger yet. The world could eat us for breakfast. Some of us don't know this; they're deluded into "self-love." Those who know this realize how easy it would be to get destroyed, and so we hate ourselves.

The greatest wisdom yet would be to give ourselves completely to God (or the equivalent thing, if you follow the Eastern path), so that as St. Paul says, "It is no longer I live, but Christ who lives IN ME."

But that's a life-long journey.

I love you Amy Louise Tighe. I think that although (and because) you have accomplished all of those things, it is time now to take care of yourself. If you accomplished all of those while you loathed yourself... can you imagine what the future holds?!
