It would look like raw code in the composition screen regardless; is it still looking like raw code *after* posting or if you hit "preview" instead?
Calliope's mine as well (Something I was fairly sure of when I was in Rome, actually) and I think she covers epic stories of any kind; the Greeks just did poetry, not novels.
And, being as I am in the midst of just such an experiment (Not for a novel, but for a piece longer than three pages... which is enough to give me an idea how very hard this is), I'd advise against trying to turn a novel into epic verse, even cleverly hidden epic verse.
