Quixotic--1. Caught up in the romance of noble deeds and the pursuit of unreachable goals; idealistic without regard to practicality. 2.Capricious; impulsive: “At worst his scruples must have been quixotic, not malicious” (Louis Auchincloss).
I sometimes think to myself what the hell does quixotic means. And I look it up. But I always forget. I s'pose its just one of those strange emotions.
The root of the word is derived from the fictional Spanish hero Don Quixote, whose eccentric personality is pretty much described my the meaning of quixotic, given above.
Never read the book, but I do have fond memories of watching the old Don Coyote cartoon from the days I had the Boomerang network on my satellite subscription. That coyote was a doofus, but a noble one.
