Some things never change...

Fandoms, I have found, always have at least one or two in them that constantly get their asses kissed for really no apparent good reason. Moonlighting as I have been in the Jason and Elizabeth fansites (General Hospital), I have come across the same names over and over in regards to banners being made, stories being written and it makes me wonder ( Read more... )

I've read a similar post about writing HP fanfiction that 'bad' stories get lots of reviews and good ones not.
That seems indeed to be all over all fandoms.
I hope you're well :)

Oh, I'm good. How bout you? I don't mind the reviews, actually, I just mind being ignored when I have something to contribute to an ongoing discussion. I don't take kindly to being ignored. If you can believe it, I actually miss the reviewers from the Spuffy fandom. Not all of course, but most. Most of them were well thought out, I am finding some of the responses I get are mostly just "great!" and I'd like more than that.

The reviews were an example; that's the only clue I have that it is similar in other fandoms too :)
I'm good so far. I miss your stories too; you're not forgotten. I just had no chance to catch up in my holidays. It was worse, I totally fell behind. Even at the Spuffy front I see reviews "Well done" or "update soon". Good to hear it's better regarding reviews.

Good to see your LJ pop up on my F-List :)

Sheesh in the X-Men stuff it's the same. Kinda a combination of the "bad" stories getting reviews, the mods and "big" name writers/artists getting the attention and this whole "holier than thou" attitude being so prevalent it's obscene.
A few people I knew in fandom really were stalker-y. The whole "I live only for such-and-so, we're meant to be together!" kinda thing is a bit... creepy.
And as to brat42 - I have to say, that in your portrayals I can almost "hear" Mr. Schmid and Ms. Cox (as well as the other actors) doing their parts, and seeing their interactions. That's a hard thing to capture, most fail, and you're doing it splendidly. (Just so my review wasn't a "more")
PS - I almost never review, most things don't stand up to enough scrutiny for me to bother, but in your case this is fantastic, and deserves more than a kernel of my time and thanks. So take that as the heartfelt compliment it is.
