Character Information
General
Canon Source: Slayers/Slayers NEXT (Slayers NEXT is the second season of Slayers)
Canon Format: Anime
Character's Name: Hellmaster Phibrizzo (it’s been romanized as Fibrizo and Phibrizzo - I’ve gone with Phibrizzo because that’s what’s on the official released DVDs)
Character's Age: His exact age is unknown, but canon references cite him as being approximately 5000 years old. Physically, he looks like he’s about eight years old.
Conditional: If your character is 13 years of age or under, please clarify how they will be played. N/A - he only looks under 13. He’ll probably latch onto the most dysfunctional and miserable people that offer to take care of him.
What form will your character's NV take? It will look like a cartoonish skull and have relatively simple and easily accessible functions since Phibrizzo is not technologically savvy
Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities:
(Player’s note: Due to the nature of his abilities vs. the nature of death in Siren’s Port, Phibrizzo’s abilities likely will work a bit differently there. So will the teleporting/astral plane stuff. I’ll list the canon abilities first and then some possible modifications to those below. I will also have a permissions post up for some of his abilities)
As one of the five generals of Ruby Eye Shabranigdo (basically the most powerful of the mazoku race and more or less an evil god), Hellmaster Phibrizzo has a lot of power at his disposal. The most notable of these abilities ties into his full name - Phibrizzo has dominion over the dead. He can restore the dead almost fully with one notable exception - they won’t have a heartbeat. Any injuries they sustained right before death will be gone. Unfortunately for the poor souls, being restored also means being under Phibrizzo’s control. They can go about their business as they did in life, but they will not be able to oppose him.
Phibrizzo is also able to create a sphere to represent a person’s soul, and kill that person by crushing the sphere. He can encase a freshly killed person’s body in crystal and keep them in stasis by keeping that person surrounded by their remaining life force.
Phibrizzo can fly and teleport. Some of this is due to the nature of mazoku - they exist on the astral plane. He’s able to retreat to the astral plane and make his physical body appear elsewhere. Not only can he teleport himself - he’s also been shown capable of teleporting others (it appears that he teleported them from about 2 miles or so away).
Phibrizzo wields black coloured energy to attack and to trap others. It can pierce or tear into a person, or wrap itself around someone like a large hand.
Phibrizzo is capable of mind control, and speaking remotely to people (possibly telepathic projection - it’s never made clear how he’s doing it). When using mind control on a subject, he’s able to tap into the full potential of their abilities even if they don’t know how to do it themselves.
Phibrizzo has considerable defenses. He’s been shown taking a dragonslave (one of the most powerful spells in black magic, capable of levelling a town) head on.
How his abilities would be affected in Siren’s Pull: Due to the way the Pull works, Phibrizzo will lack the same mobility with his teleporting. He’ll only be capable of retreating to the astral plane that occupies the same space as where his physical body was moments ago. He will not be able to teleport out of Siren’s Pull. His mastery over hell/death will be diminished as well. He’ll still have an affinity for the dead and souls, but this isn’t his dimension, and that will have an effect on what he can and cannot do.
More than likely, I will not be doing anything too grandiose with his abilities on comm. I’ll run a plot by the mods if he’s going to use any significant amount of power, and I will have plot sign ups so that he’s not using mind control or doing otherwise awful things to people’s characters without their players’ consent.
Conditional: If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them? N/A

Character Personality: Phibrizzo is a monster. Literally. The name of his race - mazoku - translates roughly to “evil race” or “monster race”. At best, mazoku are neutral sociopaths. At worst, they’re brutal sadists who thrive on the suffering of others. In fact, they literally feed off of negative emotions. They don’t need to consume food or eat souls. Negative emotions and chaos are more than enough to sustain them. As a high ranked mazoku, Phibrizzo is a shining example of these unpleasant characteristics.
Phibrizzo is a sadist. He truly enjoys other people’s suffering - especially if it reaches the point of pure rage and despair. When trying to persuade Lina Inverse (a powerful sorceress) to cast the most powerful black magic spell in existence (the giga slave), he could have just attacked her directly to force her hand. Instead, he kidnaps Gourry Gabriev, one of her dearest friends, and tells her to come to “his” city, Sairaag (a massive city formerly destroyed by another demon, resurrected in full by Phibrizzo’s power). While Lina and company are en route to Sairaag to rescue Gourry, Phibrizzo sends out the mind-controlled Gourry to attack them all and taps into the true power of Gourry’s weapon, the Sword of Light. As soon as Gourry is defeated, Phibrizzo lets Gourry catch a glimpse of who just defeated him, before kidnapping him all over again. When Lina and friends arrive in Sairaag, they learn that Phibrizzo has revived the entire city and is using the dead souls as his minions, while leaving their personalities and emotions in tact. Later, as they’re confronting him, Phibrizzo crushes the souls of Lina’s friends one by one as if they’re toys, and encases their bodies in demonic crystal - all to try and persuade Lina to cast the giga slave.
Phibrizzo is an intelligent, calculating, long range planner. After losing his General and Priest (subordinates that work directly under a Mazoku lord) in the War of the Monsters’ Fall, he waited nearly a thousand years to find someone able to call on the power of the Lord of Nightmares with the intention of using that individual to return the world to chaos. In order to draw out Gaav, who was a traitor to the mazoku race, Phibrizzo let it slip to some of Gaav’s minions that he was planning “something” involving Lina Inverse and let things happen the way he predicted.
Phibrizzo is manipulative. He prefers to walk around in the guise of a child in order to make people believe he’s harmless. He puts on quite the act, and portrays set personality traits in his human persona. Even these carefully crafted traits serve a greater purpose than just making him seem like a real child. For example, when he first meets Lina Inverse, he bumps into her in a small town, is apologetic, and then tries to steal her wallet (his actual purpose was to get caught). This annoys her enough to “punish” him by making him massage her shoulders and then draw a map to the mountains that house a powerful artefact - the Claire Bible. Phibrizzo had actually wanted her to go there all along so that she could learn to perfect the giga slave, and in order to draw Gaav out to finish him off.
Conditional: Personality development in previous game: N/A
Character Plans: Although he is quite powerful, Phibrizzo will rarely, if ever, actually use much of that power in game. Phibrizzo is a long term planner who uses his appearance to manipulate people into underestimating him. He’ll be more concerned with learning as much as he can about the world, and will maintain his child persona so that he can manipulate others into taking care of him. He will probably be drawn to people prone to negative emotions, since that’s prettymuch a buffet for him. He will avoid life-affirming happy people like the plague - they will literally make him feel ill. The only powers he’s likely to use in game openly (after realizing that it’s more unusual to not have powers) are flight and teleportation over short distances.
Appearance/PB: Phibrizzo looks like an androgynous 8-9 year old boy. He has a small but healthy looking build, fair skin, shoulder length black hair, and light green eyes with long eyelashes most people would have to put on a lot of mascara to achieve. Clothing wise, he walks around in a blue outfit. It looks like something between a blue bodysuit, and a t-shirt and shorts set with a cloth sash around the waist. He wears white boots.
Writing Samples
First Person Sample
[When the androgynous child appears on the screen, he looks very clearly confused. At first, he’s talking more to himself than to anyone else.]
I’m not even sure how this is supposed to work...like a magic mirror or something?
[He decides to test it out by shouting into his NV]
HELLO! CAN ANYONE HEAR ME?
[He quiets his voice down to a more normal volume afterward, still looking confused and even a little worried]
Somebody greeted me and explained about the starter apartments, but it’s still so strange...
Are there really monsters here after dark? That’s kind of scary.
Third Person Sample
“You who so desperately craves destruction, as you desire, you shall be destroyed.”
As Phibrizzo walked through the city of Siren’s Port, her words cycled through his mind in that massive echoing voice of hers. No, he hadn’t wanted to be destroyed. It seemed like somehow the Lord of Nightmares had granted his wish after all. In her own way. Mother was still punishing her errant child. He still had much of his power, but death worked differently here. His command over it was diminished. He could sense it, and he didn’t like it one bit. Then there was all that strange technology - technology that could even manage to trap him, Hellmaster Phibrizzo, one of the five generals of Ruby Eye Shabranigdo. Was Mother’s power somehow reinforcing it? That’s the only thing that made sense to him.
“What do you want from me, Mother?” he questioned, not expecting an answer. “I thought I was giving you what you wanted before...”
Hadn’t she wanted the world to be restored to chaos? Or was that his own wish? That was hard to say. He thought after living for over five thousand years that he knew the answers to nearly everything, but it seemed that he was mistaken. This was an entirely new world, with new rules, and much to learn about. He was still getting used to the NV, and was glad it wasn’t as complicated as some of the human machines he’d seen. Before he even heard the footsteps quietly approaching him, his attention was caught by the sweet aroma of malice. He turned around to face a tall man with a scar on his face, broad shoulders and pale grey streaks through otherwise black hair.
“It’s not safe being out by yourself, kiddo,” he said with a smirk. “Didn’t your mother ever tell you that?”
Phibrizzo put on his best innocent face, looking sad. The sinister intent and the greed rolling off this man were a nice snack, and Phibrizzo was curious as to what he intended to do, exactly. Well, there was only one way to find out. “My mother’s not in Siren’s Port..I’m all by myself. It’s lonely.”
“Is that so?” There was a spike in the malice as the man stepped toward him. Something opportunistic, cruel, and to Phibrizzo - delicious. “Well, I can take care of that, kiddo. Plenty of company to be had for young slaves with nice long eyelashes like yours. You’re a bit young, but some have those kinds of preferences.”
“Oh? AGI, then? I was wondering what you were planning,” said Phibrizzo. He examined his nails, not looking particularly concerned that this scar faced man intended to capture him and sell him into slavery. The man’s salt and pepper brows wrinkled in confusion.
“Well, you seem to get what’s going on.... Uh. Shouldn’t you be more worried, brat?”
There were a few possible courses of action. He could feign a child’s bravado and see where things led. Or he could test to see how much power he still had. No one else was around. The large man had seen to that before approaching. Too bad for him. He probably had not planned on dying today.
“Worried? Why? Because of you?” Phibrizzo laughed. It was a childishly taunting laugh. “You’re funny, mister.”
Anger. Another flavour to the buffet of negative emotions Phibrizzo was enjoying. “You little shit! I’m gonna make sure they give you extra rough conditioning. That’ll learn you!”
“Probably not,” Phibrizzo replied dismissively, waving away the man as if he was a bug. “I’m incorrigible. You may leave now.”
The anger escalated to delectible rage in an instant, and the man ran at him to attack him. With a snap of Phibrizzo’s fingers, black energy tore deep into his attacker’s shoulder. The sudden scream of pain and terror was musical entertainment to accompany his meal. He finally dropped the innocent act entirely, observing the large scar-faced man clutching his shoulder and trying to keep the blood inside with an amused smile.
As much as Phibrizzo would have liked to leave his would-be attacker twitching on the ground for his entertainment, the screaming would attract unwanted attention if he prolonged it too long. It was time to test another of his abilities. Concentrating for a moment, he was delighted to find another of his abilities in tact. A little golden sphere hovered over his hand. Closing his index finger and thumb down on it, he crushed it. The large man let out one last choked scream before the life left his body.
Hearing shouts off in the distance, Phibrizzo decided it was time to make his exit. Which gave him yet another opportunity to test his powers. Perhaps this place wasn’t as much of a punishment from Mother as he thought. Perhaps the Lord of Nightmares was simply testing him.
