My presence on lj has been sporadic at best but I felt blessed when I saw you had posted this---good timing, yay!

Wonderful snippet between these two and very 'real' for the scene.

Hope life is treating you well and I'm glad to see you have found the time to write!

Hi, hon! *hugs* I hear ya about being sporadically on LJ. I only recently started writing again (I've done several ASOIAF fics and drabbles), for the first time in about three years. I started to realize that I was kind of miserable because I had no creative outlet, so I started carving out writing time, as I should have done all along. Though, as you know, with kids it's tough to do.

Thanks for reading, and I'm so glad you liked this. Who are you shipping? Me, I'm actually a huge Jaime/Brienne fan, though I've got another Jaime/Sansa fic I'll probably write. ;)

How are you? I've fallen dreadfully out of touch with almost everyone. I hope you're well, and finding time for some fun art projects yourself! :)

As I have somewhat impolitely said to you elsewhere, I may never be totally convinced by this pairing. But convinced by your writing and this fic - most definitely YES.

I love the powerful, blood-drenched start, because it's clear that this is a reeling Jaime haunted by so many past losses, and quite unable to bear the thought of a further one. I winced at a woman deserting a man shouldn’t happen to a Lannister even once. But twice, three times counting his mother, would be unfathomable, because I'm instantly working out who this is going to refer to and it's going to be confirmed for me later on. Another thing I loved was how much past and future kept colliding for him throughout ( ... )

Thank you, hon. I'll never be completely convinced, either, because I'm such a die-hard Jaime/Brienne fan, but this was fun (is fun even the right word for such an angsty piece??) to write.

I'm so pleased that the gruesome imagery worked for you and drew you in, and that the past interfering with the present was effective, as well. This was a piece I began as part of the Sea Shanty challenge over at gameofships, but it kept growing and sort of became its own thing. Luckily they had another challenge that I could have the excuse to continue to work on this. ;)

You're right about Jaime's relationships with the women in his life, all of whom have been strong role models (for better or for worse) and provided a mirror through which he would measure himself. Even Catelyn. And you're right about theirs meaning so many things.

Thanks again for indulging me by reading this piece, even though you and I both seem to have our hearts elsewhere. ;) Your thoughtful comments mean so much!
