Bye Bye BRU

I have officially left my job after just over two years. It started to come down to school versus work and I chose school. There are a lot of activities I'm trying to pursue in order to get ahead in my major, including an internship and some committees. Also, hopefully a paying gig I found about on campus. Aww, sounds like BRU was doing the same thing to you that it was to me :P They can be real jerks about cutting hours and hiring new people... I never understood that. I get that they don't want anyone to qualify for full time benefits, but seriously... I was working like 8 hours a week most of the time. The least they could do was bump it up to 16 instead of hiring new people to work 8 :P

I'm glad you're happy with the decision though :) Good on you for making the right decision!

Yeah, it was new management which was looking to be pretty decent. But I had been getting crap about my availability for months. The jist of it was that if my availability became too tight because of school, I would probably rarely get scheduled and would probably need to choose between school and work. But I have some pretty good opportunities coming up and I'm going to have an interview soon for a Public Relations job. The problem with BRU is that it's a corporate entity, with people at the top making decisions based on the 'good of the company.' Individuals don't matter to them, just the survival of their own necks through the brand. Ehh. Maybe you should take a look at Macy's, they seem to have their local communities at heart moreso than most monsterco's these days.
