Elderly lady: "That Anna Nicole, she had a hard life."
Grumpy, elderly man: "Oh, she brought it on herself."

Who said I needed to turn on VH1 to hear commentary on pop culture, I can just head down to the local diner!

Oh, beautiful morning...

Haha, that's awesome. I read about it in The Economist's obituary page. Usually it's about dignified people, but I guess they couldn't pass up this opportunity. The writer did a good job, too, always mentioning her breasts with a capital "B" since they were practically entities in their own right.

in french the other day, matt senior prepared a summary of the life and death of anna nicole, and we proceeded to discuss the matter -- in french -- for half an hour. it was disturbing in a lot of ways.

As someone who keeps up generally well with pop culture, I am amazed at your experience.

The same thing happened to me at Perkins the other day. These two old guys were talking about the Oscars, Britney Spears, and Paris Hilton. It was fascinating, because they were outsiders to the whole pop culture thing and were as confounded as anybody.
