I don't understand how it is that the first day of school magically turns into fall. Monday it was 91 outside and Tuesday (when classes started) it was 71. Today definitely feels like fall

I would point out that the same thing happens when we go to college. Four years is four years; the difference, I believe, is a combination of technology coming to bear on the "problem" of keeping in contact with former classmates occurring while we were in college, along with some underlying perception that upon going to college, we were adults, so were taking those relationships more seriously. Sorry for the run-on sentence. But that's my untest(ed|able) theory ;) .
