I was thinking about something earlier... when I listen to songs, like most people, I'd imagine, I tend to enjoy especially those songs with lyrics in the first person that I can relate to. I'd wager that this is the category of music that most people prefer: could you be that narrator ( Read more... )

i get ya. there are some songs, especially by the barenaked ladies (i'm not sure why) that seem if not written for me per se, then at least appropriate for someone i know to sing at me.

Probably about 1/3 of the time, with the rest of the time as 1/3 being the narrator, and 1/3 liking the song even though it has nothing to do with my life. I didn't think that was unusual, although it might have something to do with the fact that out of 1200~ songs, I only have two actual albums from female musicians, and even then there not really things I listen to (J-Lo and Hillary Duff).

Yeah, but you can also often relate to lyrics sung by men, as long as they're not all like, "Girrrrl, I love your booty" or whatever. A lot of first-person lyrics are pretty genderless.

Ugh... barely. I think there was one where we were supposed to diagnose Ophelia, or possibly Hamlet, discussing specific symptoms to support your rationale.

But from what I remember, it was only one question on the test...
