Bella was really too young (about 1.5 years) to leave us, but so it goes. She was clearly suffering from some sort of neurological condition, though it did not appear to be the traditional pituitary tumor. (I do not know why end up with mysteriously neurologically diseased rats, but I am not such a fan of this cosmic arrangement.) ( Probably uninteresting details under cut. ) -

At 4 A.M. sharp as I awoke and knew with instant certitude that the rhythmic sound was not going away, nor was my brain going to ignore it. Said sound proved to be an employee of the hotel next door shoveling the shit-ton of ice that had accumulated in their parking lot. the White House is Black
Took the metro into D.C. with aldarsior late-ish last night (it was already bad) and trekked to smiletara's boss's empty [and ridiculously ritzy] condo. Went out for Indian and to Rocket Bar for some anticipatory booze, returned for bad TV, then crashed. Got up around 9, had breakfast, bundled, and headed for the mall.

May 2006 - October 25, 2008
Portia's passing was mercifully peaceful. She made a quick recovery after tumor removal and spay last spring and that bought her over six months. She was developing a mass the last few months of her life, but it didn't appear to be bothering her. She was slowed down and cuddly, but still eating, drinking, and exploring. She died quietly.

Yesterday's Christmas Eve gathering was so fantastic! Wonderful people, wonderful food (OMG the duck), wonderful present haul (much beautiful jewelry and, wheee, silly putty)! I have not updated in so very, very long and I stopped on such a dramatic entry. Perhaps those of you who have been frantically checking my journal for updates (too many to count, no doubt) have been concerned. Fear not! I am just lazy.

Viola was suffering from a pituitary tumor and possibly (an) ear infection(s?) and possibly (a) stroke(s) for a few months now. For all this, she lost her balance, but not her will to live.
