This is unacceptable. It was unacceptable when it was pharmacists denying birth control and not providing someone who WOULD dispense it. But in most cases, that was an inconvenience. Most of us can "just go somewhere else," yes

Especially this part: 'Don't make your choice my choice.'
Um...if we don't have a doctor who will do the treatment, we ARE denied access to treatment. What they're actually saying is simply "Don't make your choice."
Completely and utterly agreed. Do you think we could get people together who might be willing to start an internet campaign or a letter writing campaign to the American medical association about this issue?
I assume you found the article through dark_christian? It's stuff like this that is why I joined that community. There are so many atrocities that happen on a daily basis because of religious beliefs of individuals, but the only ones that get real attention are issues like war and bombings of abortion clinics.
News like this truly terrifies me. I don't know what I would do if I were raped, then denied access to birth control. All I know is that I would cry. A lot.
I read this and sent a prayer up to God's answering machine. I let him know that stupid stuff like this is why people are loosing faith down here and that it's time to send his son down again for a reality check for this century. I'll let you know when he returns my prayer.
That's meant with all honesty, no sarcasm involved.
I consider myself to be a christian, maybe a poor one. I try to be a good person, but I recognize the fact that there's a good possibility I'm going to hell regardless. It is rediculous to me how health care providers can do this to people. It's an example of specialists in a field removing freedom from those they choose. I thought we had freedom in this country, apparently we don't. We're only allowed to do what those in power say we're allowed to do.
Grrrrr.... I guess I need to join the Libertarian party or something. More and more I find myself in disagreement with the way republicans view things.
