If it's home why don't you live there?

I'm not trying to be mean I'm just curious. I always wondered because Ricky always used to say he'd never give up his citizenship from over there so I was just wondering why you'd want to live somewhere if you didn't want to be a citizen there. (The U.S.)

Was that confusing? If so, I'm sorry, it's been a confusing kind of day.
