It starts with a man's voice.
"I have nothing against you, so go back. If you keep this up, you will die."
He's on his hands and knees. Pavement bites into the palms of his hands (something about his right arm feels strange, but he can't quite place it) and he's sore, exhausted, as he pushes himself back up anyway.
"Tsk. What a pain..." His companion- opponent? Bystander?- sounds genuinely frustrated, just shy of being confused, words slightly flat. "Why are you so persistent? What do you want? Why did you come to S--- S------?"
And Kind, panting, leaning on a knee, replies. "We came...to rescue K------ R----..."
"Rescue R---- -chan? She's only been gone since spring. Time's too short. The friendship isn't strong enough. You should have no reason to give up your life for her."
He can't see where he is, who he's facing, what's going on, but Kind can feel a small, weary smile stretching across his face as he finally gets to his feet. He can stand. He can still keep moving. "True... I don't know much about her...I may not know her enough to give up my life to save her... However, I----- wants to save her.
I----- went all out for her, and that's enough."
He finally stands upright. "That's all the reason I need...to put my life on the line for anything."
When the other man speaks again, he sounds amused. "You really are...a pain to deal with."
