Also, Christopher Plummer can still get it. WORD. Yeah, basically all of your thoughts are my thoughts; my super-faves didn't win, but they were kind of never gonna/weren't nominated in the first place. :P I am such a sucker for Jack Russell terriers; I'd love to see Uggie and the dog from Beginners face off in some capacity.
Meryl was either incredibly drunk or she's accepted so many awards at this point that she doesn't give a fuck anymore. Probably both. HA! So true. She did look surprised, although some people are saying she Taylor Swifted it. I mean, Viola kinda was the favorite, but seriously, she can't be surprised after all this time. Geez. I love her, but...come on.
Awww, Leo. XD See, part of me doesn't actually think he really wants an Oscar all that badly just because he basically never does all the campaign stuff--like, you never see him on Jay Leno and shit--but at the same time, his roles are getting cheesier and the whole thing's really funny anyway. Someday, dear. Hopefully for a non-sucky movie with Marty.
Totally, I'm just glad that most of the nominees are on my favorites list, even if they're not at the very top. I do hope someone overtakes George, although his speeches are fun, I don't think The Descendants was his best work

Well the show was okay. The lack of any big names to root for has definitely taken something away this season . I loved Ricky! Too bad he was barely there but yeah he was funny and I enjoyed watching him
( ... )
Ricky said that he's not going to host again.. I do think 4 in a row would be a little too much, but I hope he eventually does the Oscars! People will probably have a heart attack but it'd be so much fun.
Michelle just sounds like the best mom in the world. She clearly puts her daughter above everything else and it's so sweet that she always mentions her. But yes, her dress was just tacky looking (leopard print?). Not a good look for someone who played Marilyn Monroe.
I have a huge crush on Jean! Have you seen OSS 117? It also stars him and Berenice Bejo, and it's super fun.
Oh did he really say that? OMG him hosting the oscars would be the best thing ! xD You never know it just might happen! hee hee
Your thoughts on Billy Crystal hosting this year?
Not a good look for someone who played Marilyn Monroe. Ah yes! It's like a complete 360 ! Have you seen her new photoshoot though? It's very *ahem* Marilyn lol
Ah Jean is so beautiful and charming! As you said it's gonna be one HAWT Best Actor category this year! I hope all the 5 nominees take a picture together at the luncheon or something! I would want that ;)
I don't mind Billy Crystal, but I've always found his humor to be too safe and ass-kissing of celebrities. If they wanted to bring back an old favorite, I would've vastly preferred Steve Martin or Whoopi Goldberg, who occasionally do make a pointed joke or two (I'll never forget Whoopi's Paula Jones joke). And personally, I don't like it when hosts rely too heavily on musical numbers. It's just a big waste of time and money, and rarely funny.
I'm pretty much OK with most of the winners, except for The Descendants. The whole thing about it becoming a "future classic" was just wtf My thoughts exactly. lol, even my dad made a WTF?!face that matched mine when the 'future classic' line was dropped about The Descendants.
Totally stanning The Artist for the Oscars, even though I still haven't seen it lol. I'm hoping now that it's been getting so much publicity during awards season, that it will finally open somewhere near me *crosses fingers* I was also kind of surprised, but really, really happy, that Marty got Best Director for Hugo. At least Hugo won something jeez! I get that people see it as a 'children's film' but COME ON NOW, it'e way better than a lot of other films that came out last year. And I was happy that Michelle won as well, and her speech brought tears to my eyes. Although idk why My Week With Marilyn was classified as a Comedy because, I didn't get funny out of it when I saw it...eh, whatever
( ... )
Honestly, it's just so weird for someone to refer to their own movie as a "future classic" (even if it was the producer). Like, seriously? How the hell would you even know if something is a future classic anyways? Lots of movies that did well when they came out are totally irrelevant and forgotten now.
The Artist is a good film to root for, not only cause it was delightful, but also because the cast is soooooo cute and they just seem like really nice people who completely did not expect all this attention for their movie. Especially judging on Dujardin, Bejo and Hazanavicius' previous films, they really do seem like they just made this movie for their own enjoyment rather than so many films these days that just get made to win awards.
Seriously the men's outfits get more and more boring each year. I guess at least Michael Fassbender wore a weird shiny suit that kinda looked like leather.
