I'm not normally into awards shows either, but I loved these awards. I've loved the movies this year, and I thought a lot of the winners were right on target. Seems like a lot of them are very consistent among the awards shows (or at least between this and the Critic's choice, which is the only other one I've seen). Very happy that no movie is walking away with everything--i.e. the acting awards going to different movies than the Best Picture/Director winner. I haven't seen The King's Speech yet, but I feel like all the winners were really deserving. The only change I'd make is for Darren Aranofsky to get director since I thought the directing for Black Swan was fabulous. I'm alright with Fincher getting it though.

Like you, my only BIG annoyance was Glee. Every other comedy there was more deserving. How does a show with such utter, awful plot and character writing get a best show win?

I think this is just one of those rare years where the critics' favorites actually have the buzz to allow them to win in the big industry awards. I like it, cause let's face it, if the critics chose the Oscars, then we wouldn't have Best Picture winners Gladiator, Crash and Shakespeare in Love.

How does a show with such utter, awful plot and character writing get a best show win?

Honestly, I have no idea. That was most shocking and egregious win of the night. I could understand why it won last year, cause it was new and pretty decent at least. But this year, it's been such a mess.

Sorry it took me so long to get to responding to this. My email inbox got stuffed and I never had the chance to go back until now.

I definitely agree. Usually people I work with won't have heard of half of the nominees, but this year everyone wants to see a big majority of them. Even my boyfriend has wanted to see some of them. I finally have seen most of the nominees, and some of that has to do with him wanting to see True Grit and The Fighter.

Oh yayy!!! you picked the same person for best-dressed as me. It's just HER. HER in that dress. The dress is actually pretty simple (the color and sparkles are awesome though) but she carries it so well. and with her hair, GAWD. I was SO excited when I saw this ( ... )

Yay! most people are going crazy for Olivia Wilde but the dress I wanted the most was Angelina's. She just looked so fabulous and the fact that she kind of thought the whole thing was a big joke was pretty awesome too. The dress is pretty simple but I kind of liked that, as opposed to Anne Hathaway's, which I thought crossed the line into "too much" territory (and I just don't like the detailing on that dress as much as Angelina's ( ... )

Yes! She and Johnny laughed at the jokes, which I thought was cool. Yeah Anne Hathaway's look was just slightly too much for me. I don't deny that it's one of my picks for Best Dressed too though. I really liked the low back tbh.

YES THE ROSE WAS SO STUPID OMG.

BUT THEN WHAT ARE ALL THE FUNKY SUITS FOR THE MENSWEAR SHOWS FOR? No, as long as it's a suit, they should be allowed to have fun with it and not stick to just black. OR A BOWTIE, COME ON. THAT'S STILL FORMAL! I thought RDJ wore sneakers for the Oscars with his blue bowtie last year though?

Haha, I think they were really good sports about it (well, and they probably know their nominations were silly). It seemed like some people were genuinely offended by Ricky's jokes.

LOL. And that flower just made the whole outfit look old-lady ish.

I agree, I think guys can take some more risks on the red carpet, as long as they don't look too ridiculous (there's always the MTV movie awards for that!). But I doubt many of these actors actually pick their own suits. It's probably their publicist or wives making their fashion decisions. lol. And I can understand people who are nominated probably just want to look normal in a black tie/suit cause their photos are going to go down in history if they win.
